June 24th meeting, K7AGE speaker

The club had a treat in our speaker, Randy, K7AGE, who did a program on AO51 and made a contact!

Randy has done some great work for Amateur Radio by presenting some interesting videos of many aspects of the hobby via YouTube. Go there, search his callsign and enjoy.

With some luck, the bird was passing directly over Sacramento during meeting time. Could you ask for anything better than that? Armed with his HT, an Arrow Antenna mounted on his tripod, A few calls and then bingo! a contact!.

As pictures are better than words, videos have to really be good. Here is some of the action.

Scout EXPO 2007 - Boy Scouts at Beale AFB 9/29/07

Despite some Friday night rain, the Scout Expo was a success!

Thousands of scouts swarmed over the "Midway" are to view
the various exhibits. Two Amateur Radio Stations were there
one K6S and the other K6BSA.

Hundreds of Radiograms were sent out for the scouts to their
relatives and parents. Many contacts were made via: HF, VHF,
UHF, Repeater, IRLP and Echolink.

Thanks to Bill Ragsdale, K6KN for coordinating all the stuff
and living to talk about it ;)

NHRC Operators were: Larry, N6YBZ and Carl, WF6J

NHRC 50th Coin

NHRC has turned 50! To celebrate our club's longevity we have minted a commemorative coin. NHRC started in 1957 and is still going strong at 50! Our membership age range is from 14 to 98, a very experienced membership that loves Ham Radio.

The coin is about the size of a silver dollar. It is brass with the club logo on the front, and "50 Years 1957-2007" on the back. (see the photo). The coin is available to members at the time of renewal for $5.00. More coins may be purchased for $10.00 each. This makes a handsome addition to the Hamshack and is sure to become a collector's item.

See the club's website for more information.
